HISTORY
The concept behind edHEALTH, edLIABILITY, and edPROPERTY stems from The Boston Consortium for Higher Education’s purpose to improve and expand collaboration to achieve mutually beneficial goals and cost savings. A grant and investments from interested colleges and universities supported feasibility studies to determine the best way to address rising insurance costs.
edHEALTH launched in July 2013, and edLIABILITY and edPROPERTY launched in June 2024.
edHEALTH’s success over the last 11 years includes growth from six member-owners to 28 in six states, 100% retention, and an estimated $184 million in savings since its inception.
